The Orange Roof Majorca 208
I put a lot of orange in this picture not just the roof. I wanted to heighten the colours in my landscapes and I painted this picture as I was coming to the end of my two weeks, and I was feeling more secure with this style of work. It took some time to believe in changing my style and colour range, but I am glad I did it.

On a Hillside Majorca 210
I walked up the side of quite a steep hill, until came to this view, the tiny house became my focal point after I had been at work for an hour or so, the slight mist had lifted and I could see the sea far beyond the top of the distant hills.

The day I painted this picture the light was soft and warm, I wanted to emphasise the orange-pink tones in the landscape, this area of Majorca near Pollensa and Alcudia is very beautiful.

One morning I went to Pollensa up into the old town, I was there early just as the umbrellas were going up, so I had a Capachino with about an inch of cream! I wanted to keep the colours bright to describe the clear sparkling light on the buildings.

As we arrived at this old Majorcan farmhouse I knew I would be able to paint well there, and the next day after getting 'my eye in' I settled down to painting the old house with its for big Palm trees , such an unusual subject for me, more used to the English landscape.

The Promenade II Pollensa Majorca
A dramatic scene of Marjorca simplified from a painting I did on the spot last year. Painted on a deep sided canvas it needs no frame. I shall be working on larger versions of other Majorcan views.

This was my second visit to Majorca and I had forgotten how intense was the blue of the sky, and with the red roofs silhouetted against it' I just had to do this painting.
